20/20 Focus on JESUS

20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

2020 for JESUS - Day 146: JESUS is GOD... THE SON OF MAN... LORD OF THE SABBATH...

pray all night

Luke 6:1-19

"Now it happened that HE was passing through some grain fields on a Sabbath; and HIS disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating the grain.
2 But some of the Pharisees said,
'Why do you do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?'
3 And JESUS answering them said,
'Have you not even read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him,
4 how he entered the house of GOD, and took and ate the consecrated bread which is not lawful for any to eat except the priests alone, and gave it to his companions?'
5 And HE was saying to them, 'THE SON OF MAN is LORD OF THE SABBATH.'

6 On another Sabbath HE entered the synagogue and was teaching; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
7 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching HIM closely to see if HE healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse HIM.
8 But HE knew what they were thinking, and HE said to the man with the withered hand,
'Get up and come forward!'
And he got up and came forward.
9 And JESUS said to them,
'I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?”
10 After looking around at them all, HE said to him,
'Stretch out your hand!'
And he did so; and his hand was restored.
11 But they themselves were filled with rage, and discussed together what they might do to JESUS.

12 It was at this time that HE went off to the mountain to pray, and HE spent the whole night in prayer to GOD.
13 And when day came, HE called HIS disciples to HIM and chose twelve of them, whom HE also named as apostles:
14 Simon, whom HE also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;
15 and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot;
16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
17 JESUS came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of HIS disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,
18 who had come to hear HIM and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.
19 And all the people were trying to touch HIM, for power was coming from HIM and healing them all."

2020 for JESUS - Day 145: JESUS is THE WORD OF GOD... TEACHER... MASTER... LORD... THIS MAN... GOD... THE SON OF MAN... AUTHORITY ON EARTH TO FORGIVE SINS... PHYSICIAN... THE BRIDEGROOM...

Daily Bible Reading - 12th February 2016 - Godly Ladies

The Living... — Luke 5:16 (NIV) - But Jesus often withdrew to...

Luke 5:1-39

"Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around HIM and listening to
THE WORD OF GOD, HE was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;
2 and HE saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
3 And HE got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And HE sat down and began teaching the people from the boat. (TEACHER)
4 When HE had finished speaking, HE said to Simon,
'Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.'
 5 Simon answered and said,
'MASTER, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as YOU say and let down the nets.'
6 When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;
7 so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 But when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at JESUS' feet, saying,
'Go away from me LORD, for I am a sinful man!'
 9 For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;
10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And JESUS said to Simon,
'Do not be afraid, from now on you will fish for people.'
11 When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed HIM.

12 While HE was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw JESUS, he fell on his face and implored HIM, saying,
'LORD, if YOU are willing, YOU can make me clean.'
13 And HE stretched out HIS hand and touched him, saying, “
'I am willing; be cleansed.'
And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 And HE ordered him to tell no one,
'But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.'
15 But the news about HIM was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear HIM and to be healed of their sicknesses.
16 But JESUS HIMSELF would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
17 One day HE was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the LORD was present for HIM to perform healing.
18 And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of HIM.
19 But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of JESUS.
20 Seeing their faith, HE said,
'Friend, your sins are forgiven you.'
21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying,
'WHO is THIS MAN WHO speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but GOD alone?'
22 But JESUS, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them,
;Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
23 Which is easier, to say,
‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’
or to say,
‘Get up and walk’?
24 But, so that you may know that THE SON OF MAN has AUTHORITY ON EARTH TO FORGIVE SINS.'
HE said to the paralytic,
'I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.'
25 Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying GOD.
26 They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying GOD; and they were filled with fear, saying,
'We have seen remarkable things today.'

27 After that HE went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and HE said to him,
'Follow ME.'
28 And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow HIM.
29 And Levi gave a big reception for HIM in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them.
30 The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at HIS disciples, saying,
'Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?'
31 And JESUS answered and said to them,
'It is not those who are well who need a PHYSICIAN, but those who are sick.
32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.'
33 And they said to HIM,
'The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but YOURS eat and drink.'
34 And JESUS said to them,
'You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while THE BRIDEGROOM is with them, can you?
35 But the days will come; and when THE BRIDEGROOM is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.'
36 And HE was also telling them a parable:
'No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.
37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.
38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.
39 And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says,
‘The old is good enough.’”

2020 for JESUS - Day 144: JESUS is JESUS OF NAZARETH... THE HOLY ONE OF GOD... THE SON OF GOD... THE MESSIAH... THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD...

What is the Good News of Jesus - Triton World Mission Center

Luke 4:31-44

31 "Then HE went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath HE taught the people.
32 They were amazed at HIS teaching, because HIS words had authority.
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice,
34 'Go away! What do you want with us, JESUS OF NAZARETH?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know WHO YOU are—THE HOLY ONE OF GOD!'
35 'Be quiet!'
JESUS said sternly.
'Come out of him!'
Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36 All the people were amazed and said to each other,
'What words these are! With authority and power HE gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!'
37 And the news about HIM spread throughout the surrounding area.

38 JESUS left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked JESUS to help her.
39 So HE bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40 At sunset, the people brought to JESUS all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying HIS hands on each one, HE healed them.
41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting,
'You are THE SON OF GOD!'
But HE rebuked them and would not allow them to speak,
because they knew HE was THE MESSIAH.
42 At daybreak, JESUS went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for HIM and when they came to where HE was, they tried to keep HIM from leaving them.
43 But HE said,
'I must proclaim THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD to the other towns also,
because that is why I was sent.'
44 And HE kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea."

2020 for JESUS - Day 143: JESUS is FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT... THE SON OF GOD... THE LORD YOUR GOD... GOOD NEWS... FREEDOM... RECOVERY... JOSEPH's SON... PHYSICIAN... PROPHET...

HOW IN THE WORLD!!: Baptised and tempted: Following Jesus through ...

Luke 4:1-30

JESUS, FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, left the Jordan and was led by THE SPIRIT into the wilderness,
2 where for forty days HE was tempted by the devil. HE ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them HE was hungry.

3 The devil said to HIM,
'If YOU are THE SON OF GOD, tell this stone to become bread.'
4 JESUS answered,
'It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’'

5 The devil led HIM up to a high place and showed HIM in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
6 And he said to HIM,
'I will give YOU all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
7 If YOU worship me, it will all be YOURS.'
8 JESUS answered,
'It is written:
‘Worship THE LORD YOUR GOD and serve HIM only.'

9 The devil led HIM to Jerusalem and had HIM stand on the highest point of the temple.
'If YOU are THE SON OF GOD,'
he said,
'throw YOURSELF down from here.
10 For it is written:
'HE will command HIS angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
111they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’
12 JESUS answered,
'It is said: ‘Do not put THE LORD YOUR GOD to the test.’'

13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left HIM until an opportune time.

14 JESUS returned to Galilee in the power of THE SPIRIT, and news about HIM spread through the whole countryside.
15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
16 HE went to Nazareth, where HE had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day HE went into the synagogue, as was HIS custom. HE stood up to read,
17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to HIM. Unrolling it, HE found the place where it is written:
18 'THE SPIRIT of THE LORD is on ME,
    because HE has anointed ME
to proclaim GOOD NEWS to the poor.
HE has sent ME to proclaim FREEDOM for the prisoners
and RECOVERY of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of THE LORD's favor.'
20 Then HE rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on HIM.
21 HE began by saying to them,
'Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of HIM and were amazed at the gracious words that came from HIS lips.
'Isn’t this JOSEPH's SON?'
they asked.
23 JESUS said to them,
'Surely you will quote this proverb to ME:
‘PHYSICIAN, heal yourself!’
And you will tell ME,
‘Do here in your hometown what we have heard that YOU did in Capernaum.’'
24 'Truly I tell you,'
HE continued,
'no PROPHET is accepted in HIS hometown.
25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.
26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.
27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy
in the time of Elisha the prophet,
yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.
29 They got up, drove HIM out of the town, and took HIM to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw HIM off the cliff.
30 But HE walked right through the crowd and went on HIS way."
