The LOVE Challenge - GOD's WAY!
The Bible shares the definition of GOD's AGAPE LOVE in 1 Corinthians 13.
Throughout the Bible, the illustration of this AGAPE LOVE is JESUS.
Each day, we'll take a principle of AGAPE LOVE
and then look at something from JESUS' life,
here on earth, that illustrates it.
Today is LOVE Challenge - GOD's WAY - Day 3:
here on earth, that illustrates it.
Today is LOVE Challenge - GOD's WAY - Day 3:
GOD's LOVE for me for __________ is not jealous or envious!
Have you ever been jealous of what happens to other people and not you? For me, I can think of 2 ways that I am tempted to be jealous or envious:
- having 3 children with difficult medical disorders often made me look at others and think, "Why do they have it so much easier?"
- putting in a lot of work on many joint projects, over the years, I've often heard the wonderful comments of appreciation for the others involved and nothing for me. I would ask myself, "Why do they get all the respect and appreciation?"
When discussing this topic of JESUS being tempted to be jealous, with my hubby and one of our sons, they both thought of John 12:
- Judas was jealous that he couldn't use that "pure nard" to sell (for money for the poor, but keep it for himself)
- JESUS was tempted to be jealous by the many people who came to marvel at the one who was raised from the dead, not especially the ONE WHO had performed the miracle!
John 12:1-11
1- "Six days before the Passover JESUS came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom HE had raised from the dead.
2- They prepared a supper for HIM there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with HIM.
3- Then Mary took a pint of very costly ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of JESUS, and wiped HIS feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
4- But one of HIS disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray HIM, said,
5- "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"
6- He said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief. And having the money box, he used to steal what was put in it.
7- But JESUS said, "Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of MY burial.
8- For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have ME."
9- When many of the Jews learned that HE was there, they came, not for JESUS' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom HE had raised from the dead..."
The chapter continues with JESUS eventually getting the praise HE deserves on "Palm Sunday".
