20/20 Focus on JESUS

20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

2020 for JESUS - Day 4: JESUS is THE OVERCOMER!

John 16:33 quotes JESUS saying, "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.  But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

JESUS, our CREATOR, loved you and I enough to come down to earth and live this life (as a human being).  HE showed us how to live out each day, by making a choice to do "the right thing" in each circumstance.  Therefore, HE made the ongoing decision to live HIS life, as HE was designed to live it.  He was the ultimate OVERCOMER!

The movie, Overcomer, has become one of my favorite movies!  At the first of this week, when my husband and I took a quick trip to celebrate our 46th anniversary, we watched Overcomer again.  For me, it was the seventh time!

Several quotes stand out to me.  Two of them:

Quote #1, by Hannah Scott:
  • "Ask me who I am..."
Quote #2, by Thomas Hill,
  • "When you find your identity through the ONE WHO created you, it will change your whole perspective."

I believe that finding our identity, in JESUS CHRIST, is an ongoing transformational journey.

JESUS IS:

1.  CREATOR,
  • therefore, I am HIS creation!
2.  PERFECT PLANNER,
  • therefore, I am not a mistake!
3.  The ONE WHO died for me (SACRIFICE; FORGIVENESS),
  • therefore, I am forgiven!
4.  The ONE WHO picked me,
  • therefore, I am chosen!
5.  The ONE WHO is my REDEEMER,
  • therefore, I am redeemed!
6.  The ONE WHO loves me enough to show me grace,
  • therefore, I am  loved!
7.  The ONE WHO has a future for me!  HE gives me HOPE...
  • therefore, I have hope!
I am a child of GOD!!!!

Psalm 32 reminds us of that hope, redemption, grace, and forgiveness in the first 2 verses:
  1. "Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven; whose sins are covered."
  2. "Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit."
