20/20 Focus on JESUS

20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

2020 for JESUS - Day 100: JESUS is THIS MAN... GOD... A PROPHET... CHRIST... THE SON OF MAN... LORD...

John 9: 1 - 41 | The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada

Today is Day 100 of 2020!
Today, we hopefully see JESUS more clearly
than we did 100 days ago.
Today, suprisingly and amazingly,
we have arrived at the reading of the blind man
who received his sight.

Interesting As the mother of a daughter born with severe eye challenges...  I have often connected to this story on multiple levels.  She was the 5th person in the world to have "null point eye surgery"... she had many sensory issues... she suffered from a 24/7 migraine for 19 years...  Yesterday, I shared the first part of John 9, when JESUS gave sight to the man who had been born blind.  I believe that JESUS did the same thing for our daughter on the day in 2015, HE took her home to live with HIM forever, where she now has more than 20/20 vision.

Seeing and Sinning – a homily on John 9:1-41 – REV KEV NYE .com

John 9

13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who was formerly blind.
14 Now it was a Sabbath on the day when JESUS made the clay and opened his eyes.
15 Then the Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight. And he said to them, “HE applied clay to my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”
16 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, “THIS MAN is not from GOD, because HE does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was a division among them.
17 So they said to the blind man again, “What do you say about HIM, since HE opened your eyes?” And he said, “HE is A PROPHET.”
18 The Jews then did not believe it of him, that he had been blind and had received sight, until they called the parents of the very one who had received his sight,
19 and questioned them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?”
20 His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
21 but how he now sees, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself.”
22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed HIM to be CHRIST, he was to be put out of the synagogue.
23 For this reason his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24 So a second time they called the man who had been blind, and said to him, “Give glory to GOD; we know that THIS MAN is a sinner.”
25 He then answered,
“Whether HE is a sinner, I do not know;
one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
26 So they said to him, “What did HE do to you? How did HE open your eyes?”
27 He answered them, “I told you already and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become HIS disciples too, do you?”
28 They reviled him and said, “You are HIS disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
29 We know that GOD has spoken to Moses, but as for THIS MANwe do not know where HE is from.”
30 The man answered and said to them, “Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where HE is from, and yet HE opened my eyes.
31 We know that GOD does not hear sinners; but if anyone is GOD-fearing and does HIS will, HE hears him.
32 Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind.
33 If this man were not from GOD, HE could do nothing.”
34 They answered him, “You were born entirely in sins, and are you teaching us?” So they put him out.

35 JESUS heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, “Do you believe in THE SON OF MAN?”
36 He answered, “WHO is HE, LORD, that I may believe in HIM?”
37 JESUS said to him, “You have both seen HIM, and HE is THE ONE WHO is talking with you.”
38 And he said, “LORD, I believe.” And he worshiped HIM.
39 And JESUS said, For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.”
40 Those of the Pharisees who were with HIM heard these things and said to HIM, “We are not blind too, are we?”
41 JESUS said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.

2020 for JESUS - Day 99: JESUS is RABBI... GOD... THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD... THE MAN THEY CALL JESUS... THIS MAN...

Where to find light . . . in the wilderness of the world | Janie ...

John 9
As HE went along, HE saw a man blind from birth.
HIS disciples asked HIM, “RABBI, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said JESUS“but this happened so that the works of GOD might be displayed in him.
As long as it is day, we must do the works of HIM who sent ME. Night is coming, when no one can work.
While I AM in the world, I am THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
After saying this, HE spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes.
“Go,” HE told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”
Some claimed that he was.
Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 He replied, “THE MAN THEY CALL JESUS made some mud and put it on my eyes. HE told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”
12 “Where is THIS MAN?” they asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said.

2020 for JESUS - Day 98: JESUS is I AM... BEFORE ABRAHAM...

Morning Prayer, 20 Feb – John 8:48-59 ~ “I AM” has left the ...

In John 8, JESUS continues by making some pretty profound claims about HIMSELF:

48 The Jews answered HIM, “Aren’t we right in saying that YOU are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”
49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” said JESUS, “but I honor MY FATHER and you dishonor ME.

50 I am not seeking glory for MYSELF; but there is ONE WHO seeks it, and HE is THE JUDGE.

51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys MY WORD will never see death.”
52 At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed!
Abraham died and so did the prophets,
yet you say that whoever obeys YOUR WORD will never taste death.

53 Are YOU greater than our father Abraham?
He died, and so did the prophets.
Who do YOU think YOU are?”
54 JESUS replied, “If I glorify MYSELF, MY GLORY means nothing.
MY FATHER, whom you claim as your GOD, is THE ONE who glorifies ME.
55 Though you do not know HIM, I know HIM.
If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you,
but I do know HIM and obey HIS WORD.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing MY day;
he saw it and was glad.”
57 “YOU are not yet fifty years old,” they said to HIM, “and YOU have seen Abraham!”
58 “Very truly I tell you,” JESUS answered, BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM

59 At this, they picked up stones to stone HIM,
but JESUS hid HIMSELF, slipping away from the temple grounds."

2020 for JESUS - Day 97: JESUS is THE TRUTH...THE SON... GOD...

Mark Goudy: October 2016

John 8:31-47

31 To the Jews who had believed HIM, JESUS said,
“If you hold to MY teaching,
you are really MY disciples.
32 Then you will know THE TRUTH
and THE TRUTH will set you free.”
33 They answered HIM,
“We are Abraham’s descendants
and have never been slaves of anyone.
How can YOU say that we shall be set free?”
34 JESUS replied,
“Very truly I tell you,
everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family,
but a son belongs to it forever.
36 So if THE SON sets you free,
you will be free indeed.
37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants.
Yet you are looking for a way to kill ME,
because you have no room for MY WORD.
38 I am telling you what I have seen in THE FATHER’s presence,
and you are doing what you have heard from your father.”
39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.
“If you were Abraham’s children,” said JESUS,
“then you would do what Abraham did.
40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill ME,
a man who has told you THE TRUTH that I heard from GOD.
Abraham did not do such things.
41 You are doing the works of your own father.”
“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested.
“The only FATHER we have is GOD HIMSELF.”
42 JESUS said to them,
“If GOD were your FATHER,
you would love ME,
for I have come here from GOD.
I have not come on MY own;
GOD sent ME.
43 Why is MY language not clear to you?
Because you are unable to hear what I say.
44 You belong to your father, the devil,
and you want to carry out your father’s desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
not holding to THE TRUTH, for there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks his native language,
for he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 Yet because I tell THE TRUTH, you do not believe ME!
46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?
If I am telling THE TRUTH, why don’t you believe ME?
47 Whoever belongs to GOD hears what GOD says.
The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to GOD.
