20/20 Focus on JESUS

20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

LOVE
 bears all things!

LOVE Challenge-Day 11:

GOD's LOVE through me for _________
 bears all things!

Image result for love bears all things

JESUS lived HIS LIFE bearing much... all things...

JESUS lived HIS LIFE
choosing that no matter how tough things were,
HE would not sin!

JESUS died, bearing all our sins!

So, as the apostle Paul says, in 2 Corinthians 5:

13- "If we are 'out of our mind,' as some say, it is for GOD; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

14- For CHRIST's LOVE compels us, because we are convinced that ONE died for all, and therefore all died.

15-  And HE died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for HIM WHO died for them and was raised again.

16- So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.  Though we once regarded CHRIST in this way,  we do do no longer.

17-  Therefore, if anyone is in CHRIST, the new creation has come:  The old has gone, the new is here!

18-  All this is from GOD, WHO reconciled us to HIMSELF through CHRIST and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

19-  that GOD was reconciling the world to HIMSELF in CHRIST, not counting people's sins against them.  And HE has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

20-  We are therefore CHRIST's ambassadors, as though GOD were making HIS appeal through us.  We implore you on CHRIST's behalf:  Be reconciled to GOD.  GOD made HIM WHO had no sin to be sin for us, so that in HIM we might become the righteousness of GOD."

There is a huge battle going on!  The devil and his demons are evil!  They work hard to get us to follow them.  We must choose to not rejoice with them, but believe that JESUS is the TRUTH and pray to HIM for help!  Read this story from JESUS' LIFE on earth and know that prayer matters.

Mark 9:14-29

14-  "When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them.

15-  As soon as all the people saw JESUS, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet HIM.

16-  'What are you arguing with them about?' HE asked.

17-  A man in the crowd answered, 'TEACHER, I brought YOU my son, who is possessed by a spirit (demon) that has robbed him of speech.

18-  Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground.  He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid.  I asked YOUR disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not."

19- 'You unbelieving generation,' JESUS replied, 'how long shall I stay with you?  How long shall I put up with you?  Bring the boy to me.'

20-  So they brought him.  When the spirit (demon) saw JESUS, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion.  He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

21-  JESUS asked the boy's father, 'How long has he been like this?'  'From childhood,' he answered.

22-  'It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him.  But if YOU can do anything, take pity on us and help us.'

23-  'If you can?' said JESUS.  'Everything is possible for one who believes.'

24-  Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, 'I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!'

25-   When JESUS saw that a crowd was running to the scene, HE rebuked the impure spirit.  'You deaf and mute spirit,'  HE said, 'I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.'

26-  The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out.  The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, 'He's dead.'

27-  But JESUS took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

28-  After JESUS had gone indoors, HIS disciples asked HIM privately, 'Why couldn't we drive it out?'

29-  HE replied, 'This kind can come out only by prayer.'

record of wrongs!

LOVE Challenge-Day 9:

GOD's LOVE through me for _________
does not keep record of wrongs...

JESUS "turned the other cheek",
treated others the way HE wanted them to treat HIM,
and said, "FATHER forgive them,
for they don't know what they are doing."

Luke 6:27-36

27- "But I say to you who hear, LOVE your enemies, do GOOD to those who hate you,

28-  bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

29-  To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer also the other.  And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.

30-  Give to everyone who asks of you. And of him who takes away your goods, do not ask for them back.

31-  Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

32-  For if you love those who love you, what thanks do you receive?  For even sinners love those who love them.

33-   And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do you receive?  For even sinners do the same.

34-  And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you receive?  Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much in return.

35-  But LOVE your enemies, and do GOOD, and lend, hoping for nothing in return.  Then your reward will be great, and you will be the children of THE HIGHEST.  For HE is KIND to the unthankful and the evil.

36-  Be therefore MERCIFUL, even as your FATHER is MERCIFUL."

JESUS had heard that HIS cousin John the Baptist had been beheaded... HE was needing to get away and mourn. Yet, HE was always thinking of others!  Mark 6 tells us..

35-  "When the day was now far spent, HIS disciples came to HIM and said, 'This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late.

36-  Send them away that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.'

37-  But HE answered and said to them, 'You give them something to eat.'  And they said to HIM, 'Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?'

38-  But HE said to them, 'How many loaves do you have?  Go and see.'  And when they found out they said, 'Five... and two fish.'

39-  The HE commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass.

40-  So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties.

41-  And when HE had taken the five loaves and two fish, HE looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to HIS disciples to set before them; and the two fish HE divided among them all.

42-   So they all ate and were filled.

43-  And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.

44-  Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men."

John 5:1-18 Tells about the healing at the pool called Bethesda.  Here is a glimpse into those verses and how JESUS' responded lovingly to those who would seek to kill HIM...

1-  "...there was a feast of the Jews, and JESUS went up to Jerusalem.

2-  Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, which in Hebrew is called Bethesda, having five porches.

3-  In these lay a great crowd of invalids, blind, lame, and paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.

4-  For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water.  After the stirring of the water, whoever stepped in first was healed of whatever disease he/she had.

5-  A certain man was there who had an illness for thirty-eight years.

6-  When JESUS saw him lying there, been in that condition now a long time, HE said to him, 'Do you want to be healed?'

7-  The sick man answered HIM, 'Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred.  But while I am coming, another steps down before me.

8-  JESUS said to him, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk.'

9-  Immediately the man was healed, took up his bed, and walked.  That day was the Sabbath.

10- The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, 'It is the Sabbath day.  It is not lawful for you to carry your bed.'

11- He answered them, 'HE WHO healed me said to me, 'Take up your bed and walk.'

12- So they asked him, 'WHO is THE MAN WHO said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk?'

13- Now the man who was healed did not know WHO it was, for JESUS had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in that place.

14- Afterward, JESUS found him in the temple, and said to him, 'See, you have become whole.  Sin no more lest something worse happens to you.'

15- The man departed and told the Jews that it was JESUS WHO had healed him.

16-  So the Jews persecuted JESUS and sought to kill HIM, because HE had done these things on the Sabbath day.

17-  JESUS answered them, 'MY FATHER is working still, and I am working.'

18-  So the Jews sought even more to kill HIM, because HE not only had broken the Sabbath, but also said that GOD was HIS FATHER, making HIMSELF equal with GOD."

JESUS could have chosen to be rude or crude in this whole situation with the religious leaders, yet HE answered and acted respectfully with much GRACE.  Let's follow HIS example!

1). GOD's love through me for _________is patient;
2). GOD's love through me for _________ is kind;
3). GOD's love through me for _________ is not jealous or envious;

Today is LOVE Challenge - GOD's WAY - Day 5:

GOD's LOVE  through me for __________ is not arrogant!

Image result for love is not arrogant

Arrogance is rude!
Arrogance puts you before others,
focusing on you and your wants and desires,
as opposed to caring for the other person!

The dictionary may not endorse this 100%,
but I often think of "having compassion"
as the opposite of arrogance.
You die to self and think of the other person!

The book of Matthew,
gives us examples of JESUS
not arrogantly thinking of HIMSELF,
but having COMPASSION and
choosing to serve and serve some more...

Matthew 9:35
"JESUS went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people..."

Matthew 14:14
"JESUS went ashore and saw a great assembly.  And HE was moved with COMPASSION toward them, and HE healed their sick."

Matthew 15:32
"When JESUS called HIS disciples to HIM and said, "I have COMPASSION on the crowd, because they have remained with ME now for three days and have nothing to eat.  I will not send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."

Matthew 20:29-34
"As they departed from Jericho, a large crowd followed HIM.

30-  There, two blind men sitting by the roach, when they heard that JESUS was passing by, cried out, 'Have mercy on us, O LORD, SON OF DAVID!'

31- The crowd rebuked them, that they should be silent.  But they cried out even more, 'Have mercy on us, O LORD, SON OF DAVID!'

32- JESUS stood still and called them, saying, 'What do you want ME to do for you?'

33- They said to HIM, 'LORD, let our eyes be opened'.

34-  So JESUS had COMPASSION on them and touched their eyes.  Immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed HIM."

 Let's start today, by thinking of the other person and having COMPASSION!
1). GOD's love through me for _________is patient;
2). GOD's love through me for _________ is kind;
3). GOD's love through me for _________ is not jealous or envious;
4). GOD's love through me for _________ does not boast or brag;
5). GOD’s love through me for __________ is not arrogant (but, COMPASSIONATE!)
