On Sunday, our church family was challenged to find all the references to LIFE and LIGHT, in 1 John this week. I think it may take more than a week! I'm slow getting started, but let's see what we can find, in the next few days!
1 John 1:1-3
1- "That which was FROM THE BEGINNING, which WE HAVE HEARD, which WE HAVE SEEN with our eyes, which we have looked at and OUR HANDS HAVE TOUCHED - this we proclaim concerning the WORD OF LIFE.
2- THE LIFE appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the ETERNAL LIFE, which was with the FATHER and has appeared to us."
3- We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the FATHER and with HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST."
20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

2020 for JESUS - Day 28 - JESUS is YOUR FAITH... the WORD OF LIFE...
The Old Testament tells us about all the complaining and arguing that the children of Israel did. It's so sad that is such a part of the "human condition"... grumble... complain... argue... grumble... complain... argue...
I've been very sick off and on for the last few weeks. I've caught myself multiple times with things coming out of my mouth that should not. Here is what the apostle Paul writes in Philippians 2:14-18. Remember yellow highlights refer to names/descriptions of JESUS.
14- "Do everything without grumbling and complaining,
15- so that you may become blameless and pure, 'children of GOD without fault in a warped and crooked generation.' Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
16- as you hold firmly to the WORD OF LIFE. And then I will be able to boast on the day of CHRIST that I did not run or labor in vain.
17- But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from YOUR FAITH, I am gland and rejoice with all of you.
18- So you too should be glad and rejoice with me."

2020 for JESUS - Day 27: JESUS is GOD... our only WAY to SALVATION...
As I shared the other day, a week ago Sunday something unusual happened at our church assembly. Three different people presented thoughts/readings from Philippians 2:1-18. They had not discussed it in advance, it just happened that way, obviously being HOLY SPIRIT directed! Currently, we are meditating on names/descriptions of JESUS from this passage, beginning with...
Philippians 2: 12-13
12- "Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed - not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence - continue to work out your SALVATION with fear and trembling,
13- for it is GOD WHO works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill HIS good purpose."

2020 for JESUS - Day 26: JESUS HUMBLED HIMSELF, becoming a SERVANT... OBEDIENT TO DEATH... our GOD, the NAME that is above every name - JESUS CHRIST is LORD!
We will continue to look at Philippians 2, over the next few days, at the many names/descriptions of JESUS:
Philippians 2:7-11
7- "rather HE made HIMSELF nothing by taking the very nature of a SERVANT, being made in HUMAN LIKENESS,
8- and being found in appearance as a MAN, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF by becoming OBEDIENT TO DEATH - even death on a cross!
9- Therefore, GOD exalted HIM to the highest place and gave HIM the NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME,
10- that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth
11- and every tongue acknowledge that JESUS CHRIST is LORD, to the glory of GOD THE FATHER."

2020 for JESUS - Day 25: JESUS CHRIST is LOVE...SPIRIT...JOY...CHRIST JESUS...

Philippians 2:1-6
1- "Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with CHRIST, if any comfort from HIS LOVE, if any common sharing in the SPIRIT, if any tenderness and compassion,
2- then make my JOY complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in SPIRIT and of one mind.
3- Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
4- not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5- In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset of CHRIST JESUS:
6- WHO, being in the very nature GOD, did not consider equality with GOD something to be used to HIS own advantage..."

2020 for JESUS - Day 24: JESUS is THE LIVING CORNERSTONE!
So far this week, I've shared names/descriptions of JESUS from one of our church family's Bible reading passages. The scripture I am sharing below (with the highlighted names/descriptions of JESUS) is the theme of the WOW: Women Opening the WORD class that I am a part of. I highly recommend the book "Living Stones" (and other books written by Cassandra Martin), that are a big help in guiding you through topical studies of the most incredibly amazing library of all - the 66 books of the Bible.
1 Peter 2:4-7
4) "You are coming to CHRIST, WHO is the LIVING CORNERSTONE of GOD'S temple. HE was rejected by people, but HE was chosen by GOD for great honor.
5- And you are living stones that GOD is building into HIS spiritual temple. What's more, you are HIS holy priests. Through the mediation of JESUS CHRIST (our MEDIATOR), you offer spiritual sacrifices that please GOD.
6- As the Scriptures say,
"I am placing a CORNERSTONE in Jerusalem,
chosen for great honor,
and anyone who trusts in HIM
will never be disgraced."
7- Yes, you who trust HIM recognize the honor GOD has given HIM. But for those who reject HIM,
"The STONE that the builders rejected
has now become the CORNERSTONE."

2020 for JESUS - Day 23: JESUS is THE SON OF GOD... THE TRUTH... ETERNAL LIFE!
Staying focused on JESUS, day in and day out takes an intentional decision. It is certainly the best decision we will ever make!
1 John 2:15-29
15- "Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the FATHER in you.
16- For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the FATHER, but are from this world.
17- And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases GOD will live forever.
18- Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come.
19- These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
20- But you are not like that, for the HOLY ONE has given you HIS SPIRIT, and all of you know the TRUTH.
21- So I am writing to you not because you don't know the TRUTH but because you know the difference between TRUTH and lies.
22- And who is a liar? Anyone who says that JESUS is not the CHRIST. Anyone who denies THE FATHER and THE SON is an antichrist.
23- Anyone who denies THE SON doesn't have THE FATHER, either. But anyone who acknowledges THE SON has THE FATHER also.
24- So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with THE SON and with THE FATHER.
25- And in fellowship we enjoy the ETERNAL LIFE HE promised us.
26- I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray.
27- But you have received the HOLY SPIRIT, and HE lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is TRUE. For the SPIRIT teaches you everything you need to know, and what HE teaches is TRUE -- it is not a lie. So just as HE has taught you, remain in fellowship with CHRIST.
28- And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with CHRIST so that when HE returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from HIM in shame.
29- Since we know that CHRIST is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are GOD's children.
