20/20 Focus on JESUS

20/20 Focus on JESUS
Each day we need to keep our eyes focused on JESUS - 20/20! I am sorry that I did not continue this blog into the beginning of 2021. Nine months passed by before I was convicted to return to this blog and encourage us to look at JESUS, with clear vision, via a daily scripture reading. Yellow highlights are names/descriptions of JESUS that we'll add to the list on the right.

2020 for JESUS - Day 90: JESUS is GOOD MAN... THIS MAN... TRUE... NO UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IN HIM... THE MAN... THE CHRIST...

Yesterday, as around the globe, christians came together to remember JESUS, many did it at a distance... online... virtually... in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic...

Our church family was again in the book of John.  Later in the week, I plan to share here some of the rich treasures that were spoken of yesterday.

John 7 - DailyVerses.net

Today, we'll read John 7:1-39...

After these things JESUS was walking in Galilee, for HE was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill HIM.
Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.
Therefore HIS brothers said to HIM, “Leave here and go into Judea, so that YOUR disciples also may see YOUR works which YOU are doing.
For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If YOU do these things, show YOURSELF to the world.”
For not even HIS brothers were believing in HIM.
So JESUS said to them, MY time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.
The world cannot hate you, but it hates ME because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.
Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because MY time has not yet fully come.”
Having said these things to them, HE stayed in Galilee.
10 But when HIS brothers had gone up to the feast, then HE HIMSELF also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.
11 So the Jews were seeking HIM at the feast and were saying, “Where is HE?”
12 There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning HIM; some were saying, “HE is a GOOD MAN”; others were saying, “No, on the contrary, HE leads the people astray.”
13 Yet no one was speaking openly of HIM for fear of the Jews.
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast JESUS went up into the temple, and began to teach.
15 The Jews then were astonished, saying, “How has THIS MAN become learned, having never been educated?”
16 So JESUS answered them and said, MY teaching is not MINE, but HIS WHO sent ME.
17 If anyone is willing to do HIS will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of GOD or whether I speak from MYSELF.
18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but HE who is seeking the glory of THE ONE who sent HIM, HE is TRUE, and there is NO UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IN HIM.
19 Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill ME?”
20 The crowd answered, “YOU have a demon! Who seeks to kill YOU?”
21 JESUS answered them, “I did one deed, and you all marvel.
22 For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with ME because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
25 So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not THE MAN WHOM they are seeking to kill?
26 Look, HE is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to HIM. The rulers do not really know that this is THE CHRIST, do they?
27 However, we know where THIS MAN is from; but whenever THE CHRIST may come, no one knows where HE is from.”
28 Then JESUS cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, You both know ME and know where I am from; and I have not come of MYSELF, but HE who sent ME is true, WHOM you do not know.
29 I know HIM, because I am from HIM, and HE sent Me.”
30 So they were seeking to seize HIM; and no man laid his hand on HIM, because HIS hour had not yet come.
31 But many of the crowd believed in HIM; and they were saying, “When THE CHRIST comes, HE will not perform more signs than those which THIS MAN has, will HE?”
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about HIM, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize HIM.
33 Therefore JESUS said, For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to HIM WHO sent ME.
34 You will seek ME, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
35 The Jews then said to one another, “Where does THIS MAN intend to go that we will not find HIM? HE is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is HE?
36 What is this statement that HE said, You will seek ME, and will not find ME; and where I am, you cannot come’?”
37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, JESUS stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to ME and drink.
38 He who believes in ME, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.’”
39 But this HE spoke of THE SPIRIT, whom those who believed in HIM were to receive; for THE SPIRIT was not yet given, because JESUS was not yet glorified.

2020 for JESUS - Day 88: JESUS is THE BREAD OF LIFE... THE SON... ETERNAL LIFE... THE BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN... GOD... THE ONE WHO IS FROM GOD... THE LIVING BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN... THIS BREAD... THIS MAN... THE SON OF MAN... LIFE...LORD...THE HOLY ONE OF GOD...

John 6:63 NIV Illustrated: "Nothing Else Matters!" — Heartlight ...

Wow!  There is still a lot more to John 6!  The last few days, we've seen JESUS refer to HIMSELF as THE BREAD OF LIFE.  Let's pick up in verse 35:

35 Then JESUS declared, “I am THE BREAD OF LIFE. Whoever comes to ME will never go hungry, and whoever believes in ME will never be thirsty.
36 But as I told you, you have seen ME and still you do not believe.
37 All those the FATHER gives ME will come to ME, and whoever comes to ME I will never drive away.
38 For I have come down from heaven not to do MY will but to do the will of HIM WHO sent ME.
39 And this is the will of HIM WHO sent ME, that I shall lose none of all those HE has given ME, but raise them up at the last day.
40 For my FATHER’s will is that everyone who looks to THE SON and believes in HIM shall have ETERNAL LIFE, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about HIM because HE said, “I am THE BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN.”
42 They said, “Is this not JESUS, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, I CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN’?”
43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” JESUS answered.
44 “No one can come to me unless the FATHER who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by GOD.’ Everyone who has heard the FATHER and learned from HIM comes to ME.
46 No one has seen the FATHER except THE ONE WHO IS FROM GOD; only HE has seen the FATHER.
47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has ETERNAL LIFE.
48 I am THE BREAD OF LIFE.
49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died.
50 But here is THE BREAD THAT COMES DOWN FROM HEAVEN, which anyone may eat and not die.
51 I am THE LIVING BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN. Whoever eats THIS BREAD will live forever. THIS BREAD is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can THIS MAN give us his flesh to eat?”
53 JESUS said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of THE SON OF MAN and drink HIS blood, you have no life in you.
54 Whoever eats MY flesh and drinks MY blood has ETERNAL LIFE, and I will raise them up at the last day.
55 For MY flesh is real food and MY blood is real drink.
56 Whoever eats MY flesh and drinks MY blood remains in ME, and I in them.
57 Just as THE LIVING FATHER sent ME and I live because of THE FATHER, so the one who feeds on ME will live because of ME.
58 This is THE BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on THIS BREAD will live forever.”
59 HE said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

Many Disciples Desert Jesus

60 On hearing it, many of HIS disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”
61 Aware that HIS disciples were grumbling about this, JESUS said to them, “Does this offend you?
62 Then what if you see THE SON OF MAN ascend to where HE was before!
63 THE SPIRIT gives LIFE; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of THE SPIRIT and LIFE.
64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For JESUS had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray HIM.
65 HE went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to ME unless THE FATHER has enabled them.”
66 From this time many of HIS disciples turned back and no longer followed HIM.
67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” JESUS asked the Twelve.
68 Simon Peter answered HIM, “LORD, to whom shall we go? You have the words of ETERNAL LIFE.
69 We have come to believe and to know that YOU are THE HOLY ONE OF GOD.”
70 Then JESUS replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!”
71 (HE meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray HIM.)
