2020 for JESUS - Day 64: JESUS is our LORD... the LORD CHRIST...

As we see JESUS in different scriptures, today we are at the end of Colossians 3.  There are parts of this scripture that are definitely controversial, in our day and time.  Yet, for those who understand what the Bible says about the different roles in GOD's Kingdom (the body of CHRIST), we choose to live our lives for our LORD JESUS CHRIST.



Colossians 3:18-25

18-  "Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the LORD.

19-  Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

20-  Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the LORD.

21-  Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will be discouraged.

22-  Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the LORD.

23-  Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the LORD, not for human masters,

24-  since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the LORD as a reward.  It is the LORD CHRIST you are serving.  

25-  Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism."

2020 for JESUS - Day 63: JESUS is PEACE... WISDOM... THE WORD... LORD...

As we continue looking at JESUS in Colossians 3, let's look at verses 15-17:


15- "Let the PEACE of CHRIST rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you are called to PEACE.  And be thankful.


16- Let the message of CHRIST dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all WISDOM through psalms, hymns, and songs from the SPIRIT, singing to GOD with gratitude in your hearts.



17-  And whatever you do, whether in WORD or deed, do all in the name of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to GOD the FATHER through HIM."

2020 for JESUS - Day 62: JESUS is COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, GENTLENESS, PATIENCE, BURDEN BEARER, FORGIVENESS, LOVE...

In the Bible book of Colossians, chapter 3 begins with talking to us who have made the decision to die to self and be raised with CHRIST.   It continues by telling us what to take off and what to put on.  

Colossians 3, starting with verse 5 tells us to put to death whatever belongs to our earthly nature:

• sexual immorality
• impurity
• lust
• evil desires
• greed, which is idolatry
• anger
• rage
• malice
• slander
• filthy language
• lying

Verses 9-11 tell us that since we have taken off "...old self and it's practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its CREATOR.  Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but CHRIST is all, and is in all."


Verses 12-14 guides us in how to live...
"Therefore, as GOD's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with:

• COMPASSION
• KINDNESS
• HUMILITY
• GENTLENESS
• PATIENCE
• bear with each other - BEARS WITH OTHERS
• forgive one another - FORGIVES
• forgive as the LORD forgave you - FORGIVENESS

And over all these virtues put on LOVE, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

 Yes!  JESUS is all these things and so much more!  Clothe yourself with JESUS!

2020 for JESUS - Day 61 - JESUS is seated at the right hand of GOD...

Although the "LOVE Challenge" was completed yesterday, let us continue to walk in the LOVE of GOD for the remainder of 2020 and through the remainder of our lives.  We are now returning to Colossians 3, as we keep our eyes on JESUS.




Colossians 3:1-4

1-  "Since, then, you have been raised with CHRIST, set your hearts on things above, where CHRIST is, seated at the right hand of GOD.  

2-  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

3-  For you died, and your life is now hidden with CHRIST in GOD.  

4- When CHRIST, WHO is your life, appears, then you also will appear with HIM in glory."

let's plan to take a principle of AGAPE LOVE

and then look at something from JESUS' life, 
here on earth, that illustrates it.   

GOD's LOVE

Yesterday, we saw that LOVE HOPES all things!  JESUS is OUR HOPE!  Romans 5 connects to that in verses 1-5:

1- "Therefore, since we have been justified through FAITH, we have PEACE with GOD through our LORD JESUS CHRIST,

2- through WHOM we have gained access by FAITH into this GRACE in which we now stand.  And we boast in the HOPE OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

3-  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces PERSEVERANCE;

4-  PERSEVERANCE, CHARACTER; and CHARACTER, HOPE.

5-  And HOPE does not put us to shame, because GOD's LOVE has been poured out into our hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT, WHO has been given to us."

Later, in Romans 15 we are told, in verses 4-6...

4-  "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the ENDURANCE taught in the Scriptures and the ENCOURAGEMENT they provide we might have HOPE.

5-  May the GOD WHO gives ENDURANCE and ENCOURAGEMENT give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that CHRIST JESUS had, 

6-  so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST."

GOD's LOVE 
through me for _______ hopes all things!

After JESUS lived 33 years on earth, HE ascended back into heaven.  Then, Acts tells us this happened to Saul, who was persecuting christians...

Acts 9:3-7

3-  "As Saul neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a LIGHT from heaven flashed around him.

4-  He fell to the ground and heard A VOICE say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?'

5-  'WHO are YOU, LORD?' Saul asked.

6- 'I am JESUS, WHOM you are persecuting,' he replied.

7-  'Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.'


Later, after Saul became a christian, his name was changed to Paul and he wrote this to the Romans, in Romans 5:5 and Romans 15:13...

5- "And HOPE does not put us to shame, because GOD's LOVE has been poured out into our hearts through the HOLY SPIRIT, WHO has been given to us."


13- "May the GOD of HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE, as you trust in HIM, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT."
